Changes you may notice
A cataract develops when the natural lens inside the eye becomes cloudy. These changes may progress gradually:
- Cloudy or blurry vision.
- Difficulty reading or seeing at night.
- Glare or halos around lights.
- Colors that appear less vivid.
- Frequent changes in your glasses prescription.
When to book a visit
If your vision makes driving, reading or recognizing details difficult, we can assess whether a cataract is the cause. Similar symptoms can have different causes; an examination helps us clarify them.
When surgery may be needed
We may consider surgery when a cataract affects your activities or the examination identifies a medical reason to operate. Having a cataract does not mean it needs surgery right away.
